What does the role involve?

Working closely with one of our key strategic customers, you'll be accountable for ensuring any new HGV and LCV specifications are safe, legally compliant, and suitable for customer requirements. You'll be required to build a close working partnership with the customer, operating as a trusted advisor on all matters related to vehicle specifications. In addition to providing technical expertise, there is a substantial amount of internal and external stakeholder management in this role.

This is a field-based role with a mixture of home-based working and travel to customer and supplier sites.

Some of your key duties will include:

Ensuring you have a comprehensive understanding of customer policies, health & safety guidance and legislative requirements relating to vehicles in the fleet
Developing specifications that are safe, legally compliant, and cost-effective, identifying opportunities to innovate within agreed parameters
Working with sales and bid team to prepare build schedules and contribute to implementation plans
Building productive working relationships with suppliers, nurturing opportunities to innovate and improve efficiency

What are we looking for?

You're a well-rounded engineer with excellent knowledge of HGVs and other commercial vehicles. You have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and are capable of building productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders alike.

Also, we're looking for the following:

Knowledge of commercial and specialist vehicles, and their manufacturers
Ability to adapt your communication style to different audiences
Commercial acumen
Continuous improvement mindset
