Group Head of Internal Audit

What does the role involve?

We have a unique opportunity for a Group Head of Internal Audit, reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer and working effectively with the Chair of the Audit Committee, You will have a clear vision for the effective operation of a modern and progressive internal audit function. You will spearhead and lead the Internal Audit team comprising of two direct reports and six indirect reports.

You'll work as a Trusted Advisor to the Executives at Novuna, understanding and undertaking root cause analyses and providing effective advice and recommendations as well as ensuring the completion of a comprehensive risk-based assurance programme.

This role is an SMF role and has the accountability of SMF5.

The office location for the role is either Staines or Leeds. You'll be required to be in the office 2 days per week and regular travel will be required to either Staines or Leeds depending on your office location.

Some of your key duties will include:

• Develop and maintain an effective and appropriate risk-based internal audit framework and methodology which considers the root causes of key issues identified
• Develop and deliver a risk-based, flexible and commercially focused annual audit plan, considering input from senior management and other stakeholders and taking into account the roles and activities of the first and second lines
• Provide an independent and objective opinion on the effectiveness of risk management, internal control, and corporate governance in achieving Novuna's agreed objectives and risk priorities
• Provide practical and pragmatic advice and recommendations to the business to support the continuous improvement of governance, risk management and control frameworks based on careful and considered analyses
