Business Data Steward

What does the role involve?

As a member of the Data Team, you'll be working closely with Data Owners and Analysts to help them take ownership of their data as part of a holistic Data Governance Framework. By building and maintaining strong working relationships with Data Owners, System Owners, and end users you will effectively communicate the root cause and impact of issues to affected users, and to those in a position to influence remediation.

Some of your key duties will include:

• Manage and maintain the data catalogue by working with users to identify key business terms and definitions, identify opportunities to standardize terms while ensuring compliance with naming conventions and standards
• Manage data quality standards by participating in development and ongoing maintenance. Help agree and oversee enterprise data quality standards within the data stewardship community, communicating these to the Data Strategy working group
• Oversee data quality by working with the business to agree and define rules to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of data sets. Support the automation and application of data quality rules to data, and monitor compliance, acting when issues are identified to maintain a high level of data quality
• Oversee the data life cycle, ensuring appropriate systems and processes are in place to effectively manage the creation, curation, security, and retention of data assets. Ensure use of data is compliant with all relevant legislation
