Novuna Honours Black History Month Through Uplifting Discussions

Throughout October, Novuna celebrated Black History Month by holding thoughtful conversations about the contributions and experiences of colleagues from diverse backgrounds. The theme for this year was "Saluting Our Sisters," shining a light on the accomplishments and sacrifices made by Black women.

 A highlight of our celebrations was a panel discussion with inspiring leaders Shari Leigh, Nicola Millington, and Tinique Hay. These successful Black businesswomen shared their wisdom and desire for the next generation, especially young Black women, to use their voices to drive change.

 Novuna's colleagues also shared personal reflections on what Black history and culture mean to them. Engagement Specialist Ahdhia recalled growing up in an ethnically diverse neighbourhood that instilled pride in her Pakistani roots and sharing books and podcasts by Black authors that impacted her.

Our Multicultural Community leads initiatives throughout the year to foster open dialogues about culture and ethnicity. It also looks to support new opportunities for colleagues to represent the communities we serve. Through honouring the past and present, we look forward to a more just and equitable future.

As a signatory of the Race at Work Charter, Novuna is committed to reducing ethnic disparities in employment. We recently participated in the Charter survey for the first time and have been selected to be featured as a case study in this year's Race at Work Charter Commitment trend report.
