Tell us about your role in European vendor finance.
I'm the National Sales Manager for UK & Ireland, so I manage the Sales team, but also the Materials Handling team in in the UK so I guess I've got two hats. European vendor finance’s vision is to be the preferred finance supplier for Mitsubishi group companies and their key accounts, so it's essential that we work on multiple levels with all our vendors. It’s the Sales team's role to make sure that we're looking after the customers, manufacturers and vendors. My role is to develop the relationships with the key people at each, working closely with our Business Development team. I also analyse new market sectors that we think could work for us. Whilst our primary aim is to support Mitsubishi Group companies, if something else has synergies with who we're working with already, then it's important to understand those markets and look for opportunities there too.

What do you enjoy most about your role?
We’re delivering first in class service to the vendors and customers and that is ultimately why they want to use us. A big thing that I liked about this business when I joined was it felt like one team, which is actually quite unique. All the teams work closely together – whether it’s credit, sales operations, or business development, everyone is quite commercially minded and wants to get a deal done. It’s a very beneficial setup for both colleagues and our manufacturers, vendors and customers. We are very flexible so we can often structure a deal in a way that many of our competitors can't and I think that's a big selling point for us. We will always try and find a way to do a deal for a key vendor. A lot of my job is making sure that we're giving the best service that we can to them at all times and ensuring my team have the capability and ability to do that. If we're the easiest and quickest to deal with, and really spend time understanding the customer, then actually pricing is somewhat of a secondary issue, so it's ensuring that we provide that first class service. Every day is a school day and I love that I’m always learning. Now we can travel again I’m also looking forward to getting to Ireland more.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
I've got two young children, a 5-year-old and a 9-year-old who's nearly 10, so I spend most of my free time with them. I enjoy playing football with them and I also love mountain biking! Oh, and like most of us, going to the pub!
