Tell us about your journey at Novuna so far
I fancied a change, so I came for an interview here and the process was fantastic, everybody seemed really, really friendly. I got the job and started my first role as a Collections agent. I was in that initial role for about 14 months and then I got promoted to be a senior agent, which was a step below Team Manager so I got more responsibility. I was in that role for eight or nine months when I heard about the launch of the Aspire leadership programme.

How was Aspire?
After being promoted I was keen to keep the ball rolling so I did that course over 12 months and the stuff I learned was invaluable. I'd never even considered management strategies and some of the other things we learned like the thought that goes into action and what makes people tick. When I was halfway through the programme, I saw an advert for a Team Manager position so I thought, you know what, I've come this far, I might as well apply - the worst that can happen is they say no but I get a bit of interview experience which is always good! But I actually got the job and started a few weeks later. It was really hard at first but what I learned on Aspire was incredibly helpful. It wasn’t like when you're at school learning trigonometry and Pythagoras theorem, knowing you’ll never use it, it was practical and useful which is great!

What came next?
I heard we needed people to work on new business in the Business Development Team. I'm a really chatty person so getting into that team sounded perfect for me! I started the role in April. It's totally different to what I did before and I really enjoy that can I manage my own time more now, and the job itself is fantastic. The people I work with are great - the people are fantastic at Novuna, it’s like nothing I’ve experienced before. It’s been a good journey so far. I feel really lucky.

What do you enjoy out of work?
I like going skiing, I go every couple of weeks usually to Xscape Yorkshire. My absolute favourite thing to do is eating out! I love socialising - I'm a big believer in ‘strangers are just friends you haven’t met yet!’
