What you'll do.

You will join the MOD team as a Senior Technical Controller, playing a vital role in keeping our customers' fleets on the road. As a senior member of the team, you will apply your mechanical expertise and knowledge of commercial vehicles to review and approve repair work, while acting as a subject matter expert. All job estimates and quotations must be carefully assessed and authorised before any work begins, ensuring that repairs carried out by our network of garages and dealerships are appropriate and cost-effective for our fleet.

This is a hybrid role, requiring 3 days per week in our Trowbridge office. 

You'll also:

  • Deliver a professional, efficient, and customer-focused service to both customers and suppliers
  • Review and authorise jobs via 1link, querying and negotiating job costs with suppliers to achieve the most appropriate outcome
  • Identify and recommend improvements to internal processes and supplier performance
  • Provide cover in the absence of the Team Manager, including oversight of the technical team, cost control, and audit activities

What you'll bring.

You have extensive knowledge of HGV maintenance and repair, with expertise ranging from routine mechanical issues through to more complex faults requiring advanced diagnostic tools. You are confident building strong working relationships with suppliers across dealerships and garages, while also operating effectively within a corporate environment. In addition, you have an interest in people management and are comfortable taking on senior responsibilities within a team.

You'll be a great fit if you:

  • Knowledge of vehicle mechanics and technical awareness
  • Good computer skills, and the ability to learn new systems and processes quickly
  • A collaborative approach to working with others
  • Great problem-solving skills
