We’re proud to share that Novuna has officially achieved Disability Confident Employer status — a significant milestone in our commitment to creating an inclusive, accessible, and equitable workplace for everyone.
This milestone follows our Disability Confident Committed status, which we achieved in 2023, and reflects the progress we’ve made in ensuring disabled people and those with long-term health conditions can access, thrive and grow in their careers with us.
What does Disability Confident mean?
Disability Confident is a government-backed initiative designed to help employers attract, recruit and retain disabled people. It provides a clear framework for creating more inclusive workplaces and removing barriers that can prevent people from reaching their potential.
For us, this isn’t about ticking a box — it’s about making meaningful changes that improve real experiences.
What this means in practice at Novuna
Achieving Disability Confident Employer status recognises the steps we’ve taken to make our opportunities more accessible, including:
- Offering flexible and inclusive recruitment processes
- Actively encouraging applications from disabled candidates across all roles, apprenticeships and work experience placements
- Providing reasonable adjustments during interviews and throughout the recruitment journey
- Embedding inclusion into how we hire, support and develop our people
By focusing on inclusion at every stage, we’re helping to remove barriers and create a workplace where everyone has the opportunity to succeed.
A collective achievement
Inclusion & Wellbeing Manager, Andrew Polloway, shared:
“I’m absolutely thrilled that Novuna has achieved Disability Confident Employer status. This accreditation reflects our ongoing commitment to creating an inclusive and accessible workplace where everyone can thrive.
"I want to sincerely thank the many people across the business who have contributed to making this possible – it’s truly a group effort and a celebration of what we can achieve together. This milestone is not just an achievement, it’s a testament to our culture of inclusion, collaboration, and support for all colleagues.”
John Shiels, Chief Risk Officer and Colleague Ability Network Executive Sponsor, added:
“This is a great achievement recognising the hard work and commitment that colleagues across Novuna have put in to ensure that the needs of people with disabilities are prioritised, both within our organisation and in the wider community.
"There is always more to do, but this is a fantastic milestone to have reached.”
Looking ahead
Becoming a Disability Confident Employer is not the end of the journey, it’s a marker of how far we’ve come and a commitment to keep improving. We’re proud of this progress and excited to continue working towards Disability Confident Leader status, the third and final level of the scheme.
At Novuna, we believe that everyone deserves the time to shine, the opportunity to learn, and the chance to make a difference. Creating an inclusive environment where people feel welcomed, supported and valued is central to that belief.
